2nd Wednesday Safety Sessions


JANUARY: Wednesday, January 13, 2021

This month we will be discussing common mistakes that take place when it comes to OSHA Record Keeping. Our presenters will cover pre-existing conditions, workers compensation claims which do not automatically equal a recordable OSHA case and OSHA Restricted Duty Cases. We will also go over Determination of work-relatedness, First Aid versus OSHA recordable, COVID and recordability, Red Line cases and when to record cases of COVID-19 in the workplace on your recordkeeping logs.

DECEMBER: Wednesday, December 9, 2020

No entity has a greater impact on the construction industry’s safety professionals than OSHA. This month we welcome Condell Eastmond, OSHA Area Director for the Ft. Lauderdale office. Mr. Eastmond will be sharing important data from this past year such as the number of inspections performed in the construction sector and if there were any significant trends discerned from them. We will also be discussing what he foresees to be his office’s biggest focus when it comes to enforcement in 2021 along with the current makeup of his office.

What is the OSHA Standard for Lockout Tagout?

Proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) practices and procedures safeguard workers from hazardous energy releases. The OSHA standard for The Control of Hazardous Energy (29 CFR 1910.147) for general industry outlines measures for controlling different types of hazardous energy.

Employers are required to train employees (authorized, affected, and other) to ensure that they know, understand, and can follow the applicable provisions of the LOTO standard.

The lockout tagout course will cover:

  • The purpose, components, and procedures of an energy control program
